For patients and public
This study provided the first global GLIMPSE into the variation in prostate MRI quality, demonstrating that only 32% of MRI scanners (across 41 centres in 18 countries) were of optimal (5/5) diagnostic quality.
By following recommended modifications to MRI scanner protocols in line with international recommendations, the proportion of scanners attaining optimal (5/5) diagnostic quality improved to 97%.
The GLIMPSE study demonstrates that there is wide variation in the global quality of prostate MRI, and that with very minor changes, the quality of scans can be improved at no additional cost to centres.
